(Left
photo by Declan Dean.) Evita carries genes for both buckskin and
sungau coloring, as evidenced by her firstborn twins. Her breeder,
Keith Harrell, kept both a maternal
half sister and half
brother. Beau, her half brother, has made a tremendous impact
on the PromisedLand herd, despite an untimely death. Regarding
her dam's udder, Keith says, "Her dam has one of the highest,
widest rear udders I've seen in the Nigerian Dwarf breed. She
also has near ideal medial, excellent teat size, shape, and placement,
and collapses to nothing after milking." I was very pleased
with Evita's first udder--and she was a very productive first
freshener. Bred to Hunk;
delivered a single doe
(Jaguar) 5/1/07. She easily earned her star as a 2nd freshener,
and ranks as one of our better milkers; I expect even more capacity
the next time around. She has the advantage of being very enthused
and cooperative about being milked.
